This leads to many common and well-known complications of diabetes, such as cardiomyopathy, nephropathy, and neuropathy. This oxidative stress can induce induced organ damage and in some cases can even be counteracted by the inclusion of a powerful antioxidant called metallothionein. Metalothiuinin is a metallic binding protein that protects cells and tissues from oxidative-stress-induced decay. Zinc seems to be a strong indicator of metals to help prevent the onset or progression of diabetes and diabetic complications.
